doorways

I love this week’s theme at you capture – doorways.  I decided I wanted to go downtown to get a better photo of this door that I found on a rundown building last summer and maybe find some more interesting subjects while I was there.

But when I found the building it was in the midst of being torn down.  It was just a pile of bricks.  I drove around and had a good time admiring beautiful old homes and buildings and I took a few photos from the car because it was just too cold to get out.

This is my favorite from my outing.  It was not the most impressive or elegant of homes, but it caught my eye.  Okay, so I’m a little obsessed with the color green, but I just love this bright door on this old blue house.  A beautiful tree frames the home perfectly.

I like their festive, yet simple mardi gras decor, too.

Here it is with pioneer woman’s seventies action.

The beautiful shade of green still shows through with the muted colors.  Which do you prefer?

  6. I love that first photo because I have a slight obsession with that color (of the door) and brick. But I also love that green door.

P.S. When I saw the Mardi Gras decor I had to check to see where you are from! I live in Lafayette - we are practically neighbors... ;P I almost posted a shot of a door all decked out... :D

  7. That first shot is so great. And what a fantastic green door!! I have yet to find anything that I like the 70's processing for but it so works on that door. I just love her two action sets though...processed all of mine with them today :)

Thanks for teaching me something today...I had no idea that people decorated for Mardi Gras like so many other holidays. No wonder it's such an incredible party! When I was in elementary school, a friend of mine used to always bring King Cake. Oh what fun!

  9. That is too bad about the building being torn down. I always feel weird about taking pictures of strangers houses! Lol! The action is nice here.

  10. I love the green door! I spent a week in BR for a soccer tournament this summer, I loved it! My family is sick of hearing about the Sweet Zydeco Salad at Walk-Ons... my soccer mom friends & I went back 3 times that week to get it! :) I also love all of PWs Actions, I use the Fresh & Colorful one a lot...that sure would have made that green door "pop"!
