I eventually gave up when no birds showed up after a half hour and let Maisy join me outside. She immediately started sniffing and scratching the mulch under the bird feeder to find any fallen seeds. Does anyone else have a dog that likes to eat bird seed?

When I went inside and looked out the window a little while later look what I saw…

I took this one through the window. Apparently birds don’t like to show up with humans nearby even if they are very still.

I love these shots and your backyard is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteSometimes all the waiting is worth it...in the meantime, I love your backyard.
ReplyDeleteEven though you did not get any bird shots, I still love these. The shot of the bird food is very cool. I agree with Keara you have a beautiful back yard.
ReplyDeleteI see those roses! Your backyard is gorgeous, Deb...and I love that feeder.
ReplyDeleteThanks for linking up! I LOVE your birdfeeder and fountain. What a gorgeous backyard!
ReplyDeleteCute doggie!! :)
ReplyDeleteVisiting from Fabulous Friday. Your backyard looks so serene. Nice shots!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely gorgeous Deb! Great job!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful feeder Deb especially with that red rose in the background. I rarely get to photograph birds up close unless I am taking the shot through the window. I moved most of my feeders close to the patio doors and the kitchen window so that I can take those shots without the birds noticing me too much ......... all I need to do this weekend is get my windows cleaned :)
ReplyDeleteYour bird feeder, fountain, roses....they're all beautiful. The photos are, too. I'm still chuckling over your dog underneath the feeder, eating the seed. ;)
ReplyDeleteAwesome captures! I feel that I don't have much patience when it comes to waiting for a capture. Sometimes I spot myself snapping just to fill the void. Great captures! I love your first shot the most!
ReplyDeletethey always show up when the camera is in the other room! they will be there for a meal soon.
ReplyDeleteThis series of shots is just lovely! Thanks for sharing them. Love the DOF in the first one.
ReplyDeleteThose rascally birds! But what a beautiful day you got to enjoy!!
ReplyDeleteNaturally, when one sets up for a "wildlife" shot the pesky things don't appear! In spite of that, you got some lovely shots and I love the macro of the bird seed.

What a beautiful feeder...I've never seen one like that before. Your backyard looks lovely! I love how the birds all gather on the ground like that - I call my bird feeder a 'rat' feeder, because I'm sure they are helping themselves to the food that drops! :)
ReplyDeleteFun shots! I particularly enjoyed the shot of your seed-eating dog. Nice macro of the seeds as well.
ReplyDeleteYour shots are gorgeous, with or without the birds. :-) So funny you mentioned your dog likes bird seed, I have a wirehair fox terrier, a very close breed to yours that does too! After I filled my feeder today I saw him try to get to the seed that spilled out which had fallen on the patio chair. Too funny!
ReplyDeleteI guess your birdies are camera shy. Love the gourd feeder with the seeds shot.
ReplyDeleteThe third shot is amazing, i love the perfect focus and the subject's in the background make the picture stand out! Great job!
ReplyDeleteAlso,
I am hosting a photo challenge on my blog and I would love it if you checked it out:

I love that third shot, very cool! Your backyard is lovely, looks like a nice place to sit and read by the fountain :)
ReplyDeleteyour backyard is really lovely! :) beautiful shots!
ReplyDeleteOur birdies are frightened to death of us.... who could blame them :D hee I love your fountain! Your back yard looks so peaceful.
ReplyDeleteso cute! very nice...I like it....:) have to buy some bird feeders this weekend.
ReplyDeleteHope you can check out mine HERE. Thanks!
LOL dont you love that! I soo yearn for a bird shot but I too do not have a zoom. I only have a 50 prime for now. I really would love a 100mm macro but it's not a 'zoom' persay but it's a further one than I have now ;) hehe. Your first few shot's DOF is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI love your garden! Maybe you can try setting your camera on a stand near the feeder until the birds are used to it. Then you can use the timer or a remote trigger. Worst case, there's always the telephoto lens ;-P
ReplyDeleteThese are some wonderful captures. Good thing your dog didn't chase them away. :)
ReplyDeletebeautiful shots, love the perspective
ReplyDeleteIsn't that always the way it goes? My dog doesn't eat bird seed but the bears do so my hubby won't let me put a birdfeeder out :(
ReplyDeleteLove the feeder and the environment it's in. You have captured some beautiful subjects.
ReplyDeleteGreat captures and I love your perspective. Love all these colors and your backyard is gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteI love these Deb! Very springy and I am jealous because spring has been holding out on us here. We had three inches of snow last night. :(
ReplyDeleteThank you for participating in Fabulous Friday!
