a perfect saturday

We all love to go to Gary's family's land out in the country. It's so nice spending the day outside in such a lovely place.

It's beautiful with lots of trees.

I love these two oak trees standing side by side in the middle of the field.

We have a tiny orchard with a couple of pear and persimmon trees.

There's lots of room for riding the dirt bike.

And a beautiful shady spot for a picnic.

Sandwiches taste better out there.

My favorite part is the winding path through the woods to the river.

You never know what you might find there.

i heart faces: best face

We spent Saturday in one of our favorite places where we can explore the woods, have a picnic and the boys can ride the dirt bike. This is the look Mason gave me when we arrived.

scavenger hunt: may 29

1. Classic Still Life - This doesn't really look like classic still life to me. It just looks like a plate of fruit, but I tried.

2. Self Portrait - I took four shots with my remote. This is the only one that was even close to being in focus.

3. On the Floor - This hollow log has been laying on the floor of the forest for quite some time. I love that it's covered in moss.

4. Lines - Sawyer is very proud that he can make it across the monkey bars. I'm impressed. I sure can't do that.

5. Fresh - This is a persimmon that fell off the tree before it was ripe.

the friendliest flower

From one of my favorite movies, You've Got Mail -

Kathleen Kelly: I love daisies.
Joe Fox: You told me.
Kathleen Kelly: They're so friendly. Don't you think daisies are the friendliest flower?
Joe Fox: I do.

I totally agree.  Friendly is the perfect way to describe this simple, yet beautiful flower.  I happened to stop by a grocery store that I don’t normally go to and found bunches of daisies for $5.  I couldn't pass up a deal like that so I’ve been enjoying fresh daisies all week.

last day

Today is the last day of school. Yay! I love these two boys so much and I'm excited for a fun summer with them! Here they are just before they went to take their last final.

And here they are on the first day of 7th and 9th grade back in August last year.
Wow... my new camera really makes a difference in quality plus I can see how they've changed over the past nine months.  And look at those dark tans they had at the end of summer :)  Time sure goes by fast.

happy day

This is Mason on Sunday.

On Monday, he had a very exciting visit to the orthodontist.

Can you see the difference?

Thank you, Dr. Fruge, for the beautiful smile!

They gave him a bag of candy tied to balloons to celebrate!

He is a very happy boy. :)

i heart faces: yellow

I love this little guy's sweet expression as he picks a few wildflowers for his mom.  I didn't even ask him to do it.  Sometimes the best photos aren't planned.

scavenger hunt: may 22

1. My Passion - Spending time with my family and getting to capture moments with them is my favorite thing to do. The boys and Gary are enjoying a car show and I'm enjoying playing with my camera.

2. Sound of Music - Sorry, it's a repeat from Friday when I wrote about the lovely sound of my fountain.

3. Inner Beauty - From the car show, the beautiful inside of a 1960 Bel Air.

4. Ethereal - Not sure if I achieved an ethereal look, but I did use the pioneer woman lovely and ethereal action.

5. Sharp - Our sharp crayons are ready to use, but no one colors around here any more.  I love all the bright colors together.
