Apparently we have something in common with butterflies. I think they like summer days with highs in the seventies. There were so many more butterflies in the mountains than I see around home. Can you believe I captured four in one shot?
They really like this weed that was growing in the meadow. They were always hanging out around it.

I am loving all my new textures from the bundles Kim offered this week. On this image I used corrugated crack at soft light with 50% opacity and grunge (a new favorite) at soft light with 100% opacity.
I have flowers in my yard that they're supposed to like, but I still only see maybe one or two a week. I hope a few more will find their way to Louisiana when it starts cooling off.
Gorgeous butterflies - I´ve never seen any looking like that here in Sweden! :-)
ReplyDeleteWow, absolutely gorgeous photos! And gorgeous butterflies.. that retouched textured shot is so beautiful.. I can see it framed.
ReplyDeleteLove all of your shots. I really love the last one - the butterfly - I love the motion in the back wing, yet the crisp clarity in the front. A really special capture.
ReplyDeleteThose are so stunning!! Butterflies are just so peaceful!
ReplyDeleteWow! Beautiful butterfly "capture":)
ReplyDeleteWow! what a series of gorgeous butterfly shots! That third one with the orange butterfly (and the black one) is altogether stunning! Love the texture!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful photos of the thistle, phlox and black swallowtails, Deb. The purple of the blooms and black shades of the butterflies are a perfect combination! :)
ReplyDeleteI love butterflies...great catch!
ReplyDeleteOh, you sure got a lot of great shots! Love the one with the textures :)
ReplyDeleteBeautiful shots and I'm envious - I live on the Texas gulf coast and have hardly seen any butterflies this summer. Guess they don't like this heat either!!
ReplyDeleteWow, these are gorgeous!! I love that last shot. I like cool Summers too.
ReplyDeleteDeb - those are fantastic. The textured one really caught me eye and make me pause. Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteWow, these are just gorgeous. I can't believe there are so many butterflies...amazing!

ReplyDeleteLove this collection of butterfly shots, my fav is the last one. A beauty!! Hope your weather begins to cool down soon.
ReplyDeletewe never see butterfly except at the museum!
ReplyDeleteThat's another thing I can't ever seem to do right - butterflies. You captured them so beautifully!
ReplyDeleteLovely butterflies. I loved them on the Scotch thistle with texture. V
ReplyDeleteI can't tell you how much I love your butterflies -- you have captured them so beautifully! My butterflies see me coming and fly the other direction. My thistles don't seem to attract them either... must be a different species of butterfly in my area. Gorgeous work, as usual, Deb!
ReplyDeleteOh these are just gorgeous - the textured one is just perfect too. My favourite is the last one with the swallowtail on the purple phlox and that little bit of action blur from one of its wings.
ReplyDeleteBeautiful butterflies - aren't they just lovely?
ReplyDeleteYour pictures are also lovely, I especially like the last one where you can see the butterfly wings. Lovely!!
Beautiful butterfly photos, especially the last two! I haven't seen the last butterfly before. It would be lovely to some of these fluttering around your own plants.
ReplyDeleteGotta agree with the butterflies on the "appropriate" temperature for a good summer day :) These are beautiful shots, how amazing that you were able to get so many together at once!
ReplyDeletereally beautiful texture work!!
ReplyDeleteFabulous shot and texture.
ReplyDeleteWEll done
Awesome shots of the butterflys, and they are stunning, I've never seen any like that here in Buffalo, NY. Excellent use of the textures, really like that.
ReplyDeleteDeb,
ReplyDeleteThey are all so beautiful, the first one is amazing!
Tiffany
Beautiful butterflies and good texturing – they’re not easy to photograph.
ReplyDeleteI love the texture on that photo! I am just in love with the second from the last, though! Gorgeous!
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting, somehow I missed your's too, these are just beautiful!
ReplyDeleteGorgeous! My senior mom tried to create a butterfly garden this summer along with other gardening projects. The projects started strong but unfortunately health and weird weather led to very few butterflies OR plants around here. Hopefully next year will be better.
ReplyDeleteAre you in the path of the tropical storm headed towards your area? Praying for y'all!
