I treasure each year's vacation more than the last. Time is going by too fast and I know that very soon my boys will be all grown up. We spent a fabulous week in the mountains this summer. My first husband's family has a cabin in North Carolina. He loved being there more than any other place on this earth. It's the perfect little cabin in a beautiful setting.

The trek from the cabin up to the top of the mountain is well worth it. The reward is a stunning view. It's apparently only a 3/4 mile hike, but it feels like about five miles to me since it's all uphill. At least the weather was nice and cool... even if the locals did say they were in a "heat wave".

And on the way to the top is a delightful little farm with two friendly horses, some goats that are taken care of by a very loyal dog, and two pretty cows.

The horses were my favorite. The white horse was especially interested in my camera. She did a good job posing for me.

The above is my submission for texture tuesday where the theme is movie titles. I'm going with A Walk to Remember. I loved the movie and I sure did enjoy our very memorable walk on the mountain. :)
And here are a few more from the hike to the top and back down...

I think this may be my longest post ever, but I have much more to share. It was a wonderful trip and I had way too much fun with my camera so there's more to come!
These are beautiful! What a lovely spot to get away, and take shots!
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful - such a cabin and such surroundings! I´d be there all the time! :-)
ReplyDeleteWhat a great post. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. I so envy you your cabin in the hills. Those horses are lovely, especially the palamino. ReplyDeleteSuch a lovely place. We are situated where the mountains are a few hours away and the beach only a couple of hours away. The beach wins out most of the time. You've got me longing for some sweet mountain time now.
ReplyDeleteWhat great pictures! I've lived in WNC all my life so I guess I kind of take it for granted. I don't realize how blessed I am until I travel abroad and start missing the mountains. It truly is a beautiful place
