Remember this mountain? The one that has such a beautiful view? I made sure I was at the top again the next evening at just the right time to witness the most beautiful sunset I have ever seen.
Baton Rouge is flat with a lot of tall trees. There just aren't many spots that are good for viewing sunsets so this was an extra special treat.
I have very little experience photographing sunsets so I have a question for those of you who do. Was the sun supposed to be blown out in every photo? I'm thinking at least toward the end it should have been a big orange ball instead of a bright white one...if I had exposed properly.
Oh well, I love these images anyway... and I think I want to move to the North Carolina mountains.
Beautiful pics, makes me wanna sit there in silence and enjoy the scenery. :-)
ReplyDeleteDelightful in every single way. Definitely worth a hike up a mountain.
ReplyDeletePS. I love Baton Rouge. I can't wait to go back some day.

Loved watching the sun setting. A lovely place to be.
ReplyDeleteDeb, I am speachless! Stunning images! I bet the experience was even better! :)
ReplyDeleteGlorious! I'd love to have seen that!
ReplyDeleteOh, yeah....this looks very familiar. It's beautiful! I've taken many pictures, but I can never capture the "magic" of how it really is. You did a terrific job with these. I enjoyed your other post about the cabin...and I had a good chuckle over the bearded cows. ;)
ReplyDeleteWow, that is an amazing sequence. I just love it!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome. Gorgeous shots. I usually underexpose the images. I am not sure how it would have worked for this.
ReplyDeleteI love the last one. And the first one. Gorgeous colors and moments...
ReplyDeletewhat a beautiful set of photos, I wish Iwas there to capture it :))
ReplyDeleteGorgeous photos! My husband lived in North Carolina for a couple years and I would LOVE to go someday.
ReplyDeleteSpeechless.
ReplyDeleteThanks for sharing your sunset! These are GORGEOUS.
ReplyDeleteOh Deb your pictures are awesome, beautiful sunset. The scenery is lovely as well. Thanks for sharing - I love a good sunset :)
ReplyDeleteThese are gorgeous. I love the mountains. I grew up in the Pocono Mountains and now live in very flat Florida. The sun flares you caught in the second image look great. I've gotten pretty good at capturing sunsets in Florida because the colors are usually rich pinks and purples so I don't have to worry much about the blown out look. My only suggestion would be to turn down your ISO and then brighten the images back up if you need to in your editing software.
ReplyDeleteWhat an amazing series. Wow!
ReplyDeleteOh gorgeous!. Did you use a wide angled lens for those?
ReplyDeleteI love sunsets! And these are just stunning and relaxing to look at! Growing up with a house overlooking the water on the east coast I saw my fair share of amazing sun rises. I would love to really watch the sun set on the west coast now!
ReplyDeleteCertainly STUNNING Deb!! So glad you had this opportunity!
ReplyDeletehow pretty is that?! what a lovely scene!
ReplyDeleteThese are all such gorgeous photos. Lovely to see the light and colors change as the sun sets. :)
ReplyDeleteWow! Wow! and more Wow!
ReplyDeletenothing more peaceful than a sunset! Gorgeous shots!
ReplyDeleteWow - your pictures are amazing!!
ReplyDeletethese are beautiful, I love the light!
ReplyDeleteDeb, these are just stunning shots.
ReplyDeleteGosh...makes me wish I was there now.
Love, love the colors!
Simply amazing...
Wow, these are just so gorgeous. Love the mountains with the beautiful color!
ReplyDeleteWhat a beautiful series, amazing colours. I love to watch the sun go down like this-I'm sure it was worth the effort to get there!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful sunset. It reminds me that it is not too far for me to drive to be high enough to capture one myself. I will have to go enjoy a sunset one of these evenings.
ReplyDeleteI love that second photo!!!
ReplyDeleteThese are awesome, Deb. The colors are so beautiful and it must have been so peaceful up there. Gorgeous.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you did a pretty awesome job of capturing it to me! Also looks like you were very close to my neck of the woods! :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a stunning series! God is an amazing artist! And I don't know much about the technical side of shooting sunsets, but whatever you did works! ;)
ReplyDeleteThese are so beautiful, REALLY beautiful. The landscape is perfect. I know what you mean about big orange ball. I have seen it only in the movies and never got shooted myself, I don't know what is the secret of to get it:)
ReplyDeleteHave a nice weekend
