I have exciting news today! A few weeks ago I was asked to be on the new Project Life Creative Team. I believe in Project Life so I was thrilled to accept!
For the past two years, I have documented my family's life and the beauty around us with my camera on an almost daily basis. I am thankful that around the same time I became interested in photography, I discovered Becky Higgins' website and her scrapbooking system, Project Life. I had been trying to get back into scrapbooking after a long absence. But I was so overwhelmed.... I spent my time browsing galleries of layouts and shopping for supplies. And then I would end up staring at my own blank pages wondering what to do.
With Project Life, it's easy to create beautiful layouts that tell the story of you and your family.
Why do I love Project Life so much? It's just so easy to put together and the results are a beautiful scrapbook full of memories. All you do is add your photos along with the title cards and journaling cards to the photo page pockets. Add your journaling and the cute stickers and that's it! New this year are a variety of different size page protectors and photo pocket pages so you can get creative with adding memorabilia and extra photos or you can keep it simple. It's up to you!
How do I use Project Life? Mine is a photo a day album with each layout documenting a week of my family's life. I don't stress if I miss taking a photo one day. I just borrow a photo from another day.
There are many different options for putting together Project Life. It doesn't have to be a photo a day if that's not your thing. You can summarize each month of the year with one or more layouts. You can make a book that focuses on a child. You can make a book that is theme based with layouts that document birthdays, vacations and holidays and other big events throughout the year. For lots of ideas and inspiration, check out the idea page at beckyhiggins.com.
I am always so happy to see one of my boys pick up an album and flip through it to relive a little of our family's history. And it's not just the big events. It's also full of the little details of our days that may otherwise be forgotten.
I am excited to begin another year of Project Life in 2012! Since I just upgraded my iPhone to the 4S which has a much better camera than my old 3G, I'm going to be using it a lot more for my daily photos. I'm loving instagram too so that will also play a part. Throughout this next year, I will be sharing some of my Project Life layouts along with ideas and tips for putting it all together with you.
If you want to meet the other Project Life Creative Team members, head on over to Becky's blog today to read the big announcement! And you'll definitely want to check out the other team members' blogs. The creativity with their Project Life layouts is amazing.

I love the look of your albums! What fantastic keepsakes for your family. I've done the same thing with scrap booking- buying all the supplies and then staring at blank pages.
ReplyDeleteOh my, I love it!! Gosh...your pictures really stood out in your books.
ReplyDeleteOK Deb, you've convinced me, I have to do this!
Thanks for taking time to share your journey and for all the inspiration to do this!
Can't wait to go to Becki's site next.
Thanks again♥
Congratulations, Deb! That's so awesome!
ReplyDeleteProject Life looks like a great way to preserve memories. I'll be looking into starting my own.
The album looks great.
ReplyDeleteThis looks wonderful! Oh how I wish I had a digital camera when my boys were young and growing up. Your children and their children will treasure and appreciate your efforts all their lives.
ReplyDeleteWow, the album looks great, Deb! Thanks for sharing! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Deb, that sounds great. The albums looks like a really good way to save memories. I'll go check out Becky's page.
ReplyDeleteOkay, this might just be something I can do - like you I have tried to keep a book and just end up staring at, not knowing where to start. This looks like it takes the "where do I start" out of it!! Very cool, and congrats to you!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fantastic idea - how beautiful your photos are, too!!
ReplyDeleteOmg! Your project life album is awesome and your pictures are amazing! Could you please post what kind of camera you use for taking these fabulous photos. I am in the process of buying a new camera and would love to know what you use. Your pictures are beautiful.
ReplyDeleteSo exciting! Believe it or not I didn't really know what project life was int'l this post! Lol. I have seen it mentioned but assumed it was just a brand of traditional scrapbook stuff! This looks awesome, though!
ReplyDeleteJoyce, Thanks so much! I use a canon dslr, specifically the 5d mark ii, but you can get great results with any dslr. I would stick with canon or nikon because they have the best selection of lenses. Feel free to email me at debduty@me.com if you have any questions about this or anything else!

How fantastic, Deb! Congratulations! Seeing all those books really makes me want to make one, too!
ReplyDeleteHow exciting. I have never actually bought a kit or even put my photos in an album. They have always been online. I have always wanted a kit though... Maybe next year but I was also thinking of not doing it next year.

ReplyDeleteWeeeeeeeeeee!!! Congratulations Debbie. Your photos are beautiful, I'm really looking forward to working with you and getting to know you better!
ReplyDeleteaw love that scrapbook! i think you did such a great job :)
ReplyDeleteHi Deb, so happy to be sharing this new adventure with you. Your photos are always FAB and so inspiring.
ReplyDeleteI love it!!! I will certainly have to do that as I love when the kids pick up the photo albums & take a look back- but they are always asking questions because they don't remember the details about the photos. The hard part is that as the days pass by- I am remembering less and less about the photos too. So this would be a great thing.
ReplyDeletewhat a fun project!
ReplyDeleteYour scrapbook is beautiful - it really is a great looking system and you are a perfect fit for the Creative Team - congrats to you!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being chosen for the Creative team! You are a great fit!
ReplyDeleteI love your Project Life pages Deb, and your photos are gorgeous! I'm so looking forward to being on this team with you and hopefully getting to know you better!
ReplyDeleteDeb - this looks AMAZING...but would completely overwhelm me. Could you come over once a month and fill mine in for me?? :) - I do think I'm going to have to go digital with collecting this year's, tho. I don't see any other way. Next time...if there is a next time...I'll try ti plan ahead and stay on top of it like you do. Seriously tho, this is fabulous - and congrats on becoming part of their creative them. That is exciting and certainly a compliment to you!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations! I've started doing PL this year and am inn the process of catch up fro the last few year - thanks for the inspiration x.
ReplyDeleteSuch a beautiful (and easy) idea. I love it!
ReplyDeletewow! i love that scrapbook. super awesome!! GREAT job, deb!
ReplyDeletehave a great day!
betty
Love this idea...your scrapbook is beautiful :)
ReplyDeleteThis looks FANTASTIC1!! I really like how easy and clean looking it is. And still pretty and able to add journaling.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, what a great system for scrapping and preserving memories!
i've never heard of project life, but i like what i see here. i stopped scrapbooking a couple years ago and just can't imagine getting back into it. my family never looked at the albums like your boys do, they just sit on a shelf unless i'm looking at them. this looks like something that wouldn't take a lot of time, or supplies, that i could easily do. hum. i need to check this out.
ReplyDeleteI did a project 365 for the 2010 year - it was how I started my first (not using it now) blog! I am actually pretty sure I am going to try it again, new place, new life events, so why not!
ReplyDeleteYour images are so crisp & clear, so nice to look at =)
ReplyDeleteTotally jealous of your mad photobook skills!!! Must learn how!!
ReplyDeleteDeb, I've never had the 'scrapping' bug but wow, I really love this idea of a page a week and a way to incorporate my photos and encourage me to take more. This is really cool!
ReplyDeleteAlmost as cool as you being a member on the creative team. : )
Congrats!!
This is so cool!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on being part of the Creative Team. I will be doing my first Project Life album in 2012. I already have my supplies lined out, and I was excited to see the announcement about the Creative Team - so much to learn!
