project life recap

Each Saturday in 2011, I've shared a collage of my weekly photos. I've also told you all about project life here and here, but until now I've only shared a handful of my layouts. I'm going to be sharing my 2012 layouts with you on a regular basis, but until then, I thought you would like to see some of my pages from 2010 and 2011.

I noticed some differences when comparing my photos in the 2010 project life album to 2011. Not only did my photography improve... that will happen when you take a pic every day... but, the images I chose to capture have changed over time as well.

These two layouts are from 2010.

The main difference is that I took a lot more people shots back then. Almost every photo in the album is of my family. In 2011 I started getting more interested in the 'stuff' around me. It's fun to add bits of our surroundings in the album. I've been documenting the food we eat, nature all around us, things in our house, places we visit, etc. I still take lots of photos of my family, but they appreciate the break from my camera when I decide to capture a flower instead!

Here are a few from the beginning of 2011.

My layouts toward the end of 2011 are also looking a little different thanks to my iphone 4s. I'm loving adding little bits and pieces that I capture in places where I wouldn't have bothered to bring my big dslr. I'll be sharing more of those layouts soon.

So who's doing project life in 2012? Have I convinced you? My 2011 album is almost complete and I sure am excited to be starting another year!

  2. As soon as I saw your post, I thought I could use my Amazon gift cards for the Project Life supplies instead of saving for camera equipment. :) I really like the idea of Project Life. And since I take at least a photo a day anyway, it would be pretty easy to put it all together.

Your layouts look great! Do you have a kit that you prefer?

  3. Your layouts look awesome! Great images. So fun to look back and see how we've grown photographically speaking, right? Project Life sounds amazing. I'm not sure it's something I can take on right now, but it's on my list for the future for sure!

  5. I love these, Deb. What a great way to capture the year, to look back on years from now. It's always great to see how you grow as a photographer through the years. I would love to do this, but I'm not sure I have the patience! LOL. I still haven't started the scrapbook for my son, and he'll be five in two weeks. :)

  8. I would love to have a book like this to look back on but I know with my schedule I could never do it plus the fact that my kids don't like me taking shots of them all the time.

  16. You know I bought one of these albums last year and never used it. Maybe you have convinced me to try it this year. Love your layouts, and what great memories you have captured for keeps.

  17. Ay-yay-yi! Where have I been? I've missed you and your gorgeous photos. Love your project life book. I am always tempted, but haven't so far! at least I always do a photo album, which has a similar purpose but without the journaling aspect. I am off to check out what else I have missed here. xoxo

As you progress as a photographer, you tend to look at things differently.

  22. I really really love this & need to just jump in & start doing it. I have albums around all over the place here & the kids love looking at them. But they are always asking about the shots- so having these note cards in there too would be so great. Especially with as bad as my memory is lately. :)
