studio calico: summer of 69 layouts

I've been busy with my August kit, Summer of 69. The colors are just gorgeous in this kit... so bright and cheerful. I think there are a lot of colors that I love, because every month I'm tempted to call each kit my favorite and this one is definitely in the running.

I made this layout for the Write. Click. Scrapbook September gallery that you can find here. The theme for the month was looking back so I went way back to my first day of preschool.

There were a lot of girly embellishments and colors in the kit, but I still managed to make a few layouts about my boys... like this camping trip from a few years back.

I love the cloud paper and I wanted to be sure and use it as a background for a layout about something to do with the sky. Then I realized the topless jeep is perfect for that!

I was asked to make a layout for Studio Calico's Sunday Sketch a few weeks back and this is what I came up with. You can see the sketch it was based on here.

And one more about our trip to the snowball stand a few weeks back. I did my journaling on the shipping tag that's tucked into the envelope.

That's it for now, but I have been really busy scrapbooking lately so I have a few more to share when I get them photographed. If you have any questions about products used or anything else, just leave a comment and I'll reply in the comments.

  2. I am constantly amazed at your layouts, Deb! You have such a beautiful, clean style & your color choices are always spot on. Your preschool layout inspired me to get out some older photos of myself (the papers in this kit are perfect for us girls, right?) and get them into my books! I love the background paper on your last layout, where is that from? It's perfect for the page and even though its a little "busy" (in a good way) your photos are still the top billing on the page. The black & white of it just keeps it in the background & lets your photos shine! Awesome job, can't wait to see the rest. I also noticed you always have a white background on most of your photos, do you cut them this way or print them out that way? Do you print at home?

    1. Thanks, Trina! That background paper was in the main kit. It's the other side of the navy dot. It's by Pebbles and it's called Bouncy. I print my photos at home. I resize in photoshop and them drag them to an 8.5x11 canvas so I can print a few at once. Then I just leave a white border when I cut them out. I like the way it makes them stand out a little. Hope you have fun with your old photos!
