Don't you love it when a butterfly is kind enough to wait around while you go inside, change your lens, and then come back? This one was very interested in my lantana so he stayed around long enough for me to get back and take a few shots too. According to this website which is a great resource for identifying butterflies and moths, he appears to be a long-tailed skipper.

You captured amazing images of a Hummingbird Moth. I know you said it was a butterfly, but I'd actually captured images of this little guy too, we first thought it was a humming bird from a distance, but clearly it wasn't when I looked at the photos so we went on a mission to find out what it was. Your images are stunning! Much better capture than mine, your subject was larger than mine, mine was just a baby. New follower, your blog is lovely. Thanks for hosting the hop.
ReplyDeleteit is lovely!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I've ever seen one of these...thanks for sharing it with me. :)
ReplyDeleteFantastic photos ! I am a new follower , your blog is awesome ! Have a good day !
ReplyDeleteWonderful! I am trying to determine what larva is eating my parley right now. I don't dare remove it because it looks pretty distinctive, like it could be a monarch. Checking out that website to see what I can find out.
ReplyDeleteYou were able to get some very impressive shots of that little guy!
ReplyDeleteNice shots! I haven't seen a long-tailed skipper. My lantana seems to be quite a draw for the bees and butterflies too.
ReplyDeleteIt's long tail made me wonder if it was a butterfly, but looking at the comments it must be so:) Your first pic is excellent -its furry body is so clear here!
ReplyDeleteSo beautiful Deb!!
ReplyDeleteYour images are always so bright and crisp! Lovely!!
ReplyDeleteThese are so great!! Love them.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing shots of the butterfly. They never sit still long enough for me to get any pictures. :))
ReplyDeleteBeautiful light given off those pictures, I love that butterfly.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for your fun comment and for hosting this linky hop again. Now that is a real hop. That sweet butterfly new you needed some new photographs, huh?
ReplyDeleteLove these gorgeous pics and your website! Thanks for hosting this blog hop.
ReplyDeleteLovely as always! The kids and I discovered a bush near our house and there's always at least 20 butterflies on there at one time, I'll have to try and remember to take my camera next time we walk that way!
ReplyDeleteWow! He is very cool! Beautiful photos! So nice of him to hang around for you.
ReplyDeletePreciosas tus capturas, hermoso blog! Saludos desde Argentina.
