this or that thursday: tiny daisies

Daisies are just the sweetest of flowers. These are a very small variety. I planted them in my beds this year and they survived! That means they are also low maintenance because that's the only kind of flower that survives under my care. Sorry I don't know their exact name, but if you're ever looking for them at the nursery, the bloom is about the size of a quarter.

*Just wanted to edit to thank everyone for all the kind words as Isaac came through yesterday. My family and I are fine and we were lucky to not lose power. We did see some impressive and sometimes scary wind yesterday and there are lots in my area without power, but everything should be back to normal before too long.

project life: week 30

Week 30 was the week of Alec's 17th birthday so there were lots of photos to choose from. I was trying to make sure I documented it just right so that he would remember all the fun things he did that day. I think it took me a little longer than it usually does. It was worth it though! He'll thank me one day. Or maybe he won't care. But either way I'm so glad I have this. :)

more layouts from elmwood park

Studio Calico's July kit, Elmwood Park, was a lot of fun to work with. I made 12 layouts with the kit plus the Capture the Flag add-on and I still have enough left to make a few more, but I'm distracted by my August kit which arrived a couple of weeks ago. That's the problem with the kit clubs. I love working with the kits, but I can't ever seem to use one up before another one comes! I made sure to not order an add-on for August so maybe I'll be able to use it up this time. But even so, I'm still happy with getting 12 layouts out of the month. :)

Here are the Elmwood Park layouts that I haven't already shared. I jump all over the place with the photos I scrapbook... anywhere from last week to years ago. I like it this way a lot more than the chronological scrapping I did back in the 90s when I first started.

this or that thursday: first day of school

Every year I take the same shots... my two boys standing by the front door on the first day of school. This year they are both in high school. Mason is in 9th and Alec is in 11th. Don't let the photos fool you. I think Mason's shoes have thicker heels or maybe it's that he's standing on the rug, but he's not taller than his big brother just yet! They were measured at their check up last week and Alec still has 1/4" on his younger brother.

And here's one from a long time ago. It was Mason's first day of kindergarten and Alec was in 2nd grade. These nine years sure have passed by fast.

project life: week 29

First of all, if you haven't seen the new Project Life designs for 2012 you need to head to Becky's blog asap. They are both incredible! Makes me excited for another year of documenting life! But we do still have quite a bit of 2012 left. Today I'm sharing week 29. I was excited to use the new Project Life stamps from Studio Calico. I think my favorite from both sets is the little smiley face. If you have a 3/4" circle punch, it's a perfect fit.

zinnia colors

I have some lovely zinnia colors to share today. They are very summery and to me, that equals happy colors. It's funny how our taste in colors changes over the years. I've never been a big fan of yellow, but I'm coming around. I've decided it's a very enjoyable color and really, there's no color happier than a bright yellow. :)

this or that thursday: instagram love

I'm still loving instagram. Even without it I would use my iphone to take a lot of my everyday kind of pics for project life, but instagram makes it so much more fun. :)

Here'a a little recap of my favorites from the last couple months.

project life: week 24

**Updated with winner below**

Today is a very happy day (other than the fact that it's the first day of school for my boys, but we're not going to talk about that). Instead we are going to talk about Becky Higgins' new photo pocket and envelope pages. I'm so excited about all the new styles that came out recently! And I'm extra excited that I get to give a set away today!

To enter the contest, just leave a comment on this post by tomorrow (Tuesday) night at 10 pm central. Contest is open to U.S. residents only.

Now to share week 24... I saved this week until I could include Design J because I knew I would have lots of extra photos for our vacation week. I love the new styles that allow you to add inserts of extra photos without totally covering up the second half of your week since they are narrower than 12 inches. Check out this post on Becky's blog for a description of all the new designs.

So here's my layout all about our vacation including the insert.

And a few details:

**I spelled out the words on the mini-title card with the Stepping Stone Alpha stamp set from Studio Calico. The tiny letters that spell "of" and "the" are from a stamp set that was only available with a stamp class at Studio Calico last month.

**So many of you have questions about the letters and map stamp I used here. The letters are American Crafts Thickers by Studio Calico. The style is Abroad Everywhere. The stamp is a Studio Calico stamp set called Adventure. Unfortunately, I don't think either of these items are still available so if you really want them you may have to check ebay.

Don't you love my state of Utah card? I downloaded a set of cards that includes every state here. They come with a black background and white state so I changed mine up in Photoshop by adding one of the digital Clementine papers to the background and changing the color of the state with a color overlay layer style.

Okay, don't forget to leave a comment to enter the contest! I'll post the winner on Wednesday. Good luck!

**The winner of the giveaway is #72 kristy.lynn @ kristy.makes. Congrats to Kristy! I hope you enjoy the new products!
