scrapbook layout: happy place

The photo in this layout is from a trip to the North Carolina mountains two years ago. Vacations are my favorite subject to scrap... they're always such good memories. I used the Studio Calico Here and There collection which has great color combinations! I did some stamping and stitching and this time I even changed the color of the thread in my sewing machine to orange! I love wide washi - especially this grey and white chevron (from the Spencer's kit) that I used to anchor my photo and patterned papers.

  1. Hi Deb -
love the layout!! this is probably a dumb question, but on your stitching...how do you end the stitching w/o the thread coming up through the top of the paper? Whenever I sew on my layouts, the end of my threads are on top of the paper, not on the back side. :)

    1. That's not a dumb question at all! Someone had to explain this to me because I am not a sewer except for on paper! After you cut your threads, turn over the paper. Pull lightly on the thread on the back of your paper. As you pull you will see a tiny loop where the last stitch is loosening. Take a pin and use the loop to pull the thread from the front through to the back. Then I either tie the two threads together or sometimes tape them down with washi. You'll have to do this on both ends. Let me know if this doesn't make sense or if you have any questions. It's kind of hard to explain since it's one of those things that's easier to show!
