using masks on scrapbook layouts

I've been playing around with masks lately and I have the resulting layouts to share with you today! Each one uses a mask as the foundation of the design, but in three different ways. These are the three masks I used -

First I used acrylic paint with a circle mask. I mixed some paints until I had the desired shade of green and then painted within the circles using a sponge brush. I mostly used Crate Paper DIY Shop on this layout, but the background paper is from Crate Paper The Pier.

On this layout I used a mask on white cardstock. I sprayed Mister Huey mist and then cut out the resulting chevron pattern and used it as a layer on my layout. I used the lovely new Crate Paper collection, The Pier this time.

I had fun with watercolors on this third layout about Mason's new glasses! I used watercolor papers to paint within the pattern of the mask. This layout also uses The Pier by Crate Paper.

  3. Wonderful examples and terrific layouts! I really like the idea of stenciling on a separate piece of paper to use as layering. Love seeing what to do with those stencils. TFS.
