Studio Calico started designing letterpress plates recently and I'm so glad they did! I'm having so much fun with this. Letterpress is a process in which an impression is made into the paper along with ink resulting in a beautiful textured design. All you need to get started is the letterpress platform bundle, a manual die cut machine, some ink and plates. Studio Calico has some really great designs which is why I knew I wanted to try this!
I created this layout with a photo of my boys back in 2008 on the Blue Ridge Parkway in North Carolina using the Antiquary kits and some letterpress embellishments. The impression doesn't show up quite as well on photos, but in person you can really see the dimension of the designs.
The camera, "this" arrow, "happy thoughts" and strip of triangles are all letterpressed. I finished it off with some Mister Huey's mist in double yellow and sky. I'm really excited about this shade of blue... sky is finally the perfect blue I've been waiting for!
love the bright happy colors and letterpress card
ReplyDeleteThis past weekend I attended a workshop with Anna Maria Wolniak in Madrid and taught us how to use letterpress, the truth that looks great in the works! I love your layout, it's fantastic, as always. Kisses from Spain.
