card tutorial

I shared my projects with the Studio Calico August kits in my last post, and I have one more card to share today. The squints add-on has such pretty flower stamps, and such lovely patterned papers! This card is all about color... I did some stamping and some coloring with my neocolor watercolor crayons for a bright and happy look.

Here's a step by step look at how my card came together.

Instructions:
  1. Color three different neocolors (salmonvermillion, naples yellow) in a random pattern large enough to cut out a banner shape. Watercolor paper works best, but you could also use cardstock.
  2. Use a slightly wet paintbrush to blend the colors. Blot the paintbrush on paper towels because you don't want it to be too wet.
  3. Cut out a banner shape from the painted area. I used a die, or you can cut by hand.
  4. Stamp your sentiment on the banner. I used color theory clean slate.
  5. I used a card base of 5.25x4.25 inches, a piece of white cardstock about 4.5x3.5 inches (I don't alway measure - sometimes I just eyeball it), and patterned paper at 5.25x4.25 inches.
  6. Stamp flowers on white cardstock. I used color theory blush crush, orange county, mint hint and sunny day.
To assemble your card, adhere the patterned paper to the base. Use dimensional adhesive to adhere the stamped flowers and banner and you're done!

studio calico reveal: sandlot

The Studio Calico Sandlot kits are on sale for subscribers now! If you aren't a subscriber, you can shop tonight at midnight Eastern time. In the mean time, you can check out the creative team gallery... there is so much inspiration!

I made two Project Life spreads with the gorgeous Project Life kits and add-ons - monthly overviews of January and June.

My June spread uses only the Project Life main kit. My favorite part is the shiny silver alpha and my favorite card is the 4x6 wonky orange and white stripes that I used for my title. I used the stamps included in the kit to make the "made by us" and "photo by mom" banners. I cut out the word "wow" from one of the printables and turned it upside down.

For my January spread I used the Project Life add-ons Yeah Yeah and Repeat and the 4x6 paper pad which includes 17 papers. I love the bright yellow and aqua and the wood veneer word cards look great repeated throughout the spread. My favorite card from the add-on kits is the "go out there and be awesome with your awesome self" card. How awesome is that?!!

I made five cards with the card kits. These first three cards were made with the Squints add-on. I really enjoyed stamping the beautiful flowers from this kit. :)

These last two cards were made with the Sandlot main card kit. The stamp set includes really cute sentiments along with a gumball machine. The ribbon included in the kit is a lovely blue and white stripe, plus there is the cutest wood veneer cat.

I think my favorite thing of all is the silver alpha in the Project Life main kit. So fun!!! My favorite thing in the card kits are the flower stamps in the Squints add-on.
